Mission Statement
Our mission is two-fold. We will provide educational and recreational opportunities for mentally and/or physically challenged children, for the purpose of helping them grow in their overall range of capabilities. We will also provide work for mentally challenged adults who may otherwise not have choices as they relate to being a productive member of society.
Description
Boone County Special Services has served the Boone County area for decades. We provide educational opportunities and activities for children ranging from 2 years old to 15 years old, who have mental or physical challenges. In addition to helping the children, BCSS also provides a safe haven for children who's parents require child care in order to support their work career. Another aspect of BCSS is our "Work Center". Adults with mental disabilities are provided work they can accomplish, as a way to earn money to either support themselves or contribute to their support. The work is valuable, yet is of the nature where a person can be instructed to accomplish tasks with ease.
