Tender Loving Canines, Assistance Dogs

Tender Loving Canines, Assistance Dogs, TLCAD, is a nonprofit organization 501(c)3 that provides custom trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities. TLCAD teams trainer, dog and disabled handler during the development of each dog so that the dog is trained specifically to the needs of the handler. Tender Loving Canines, Assistance Dogs is run by volunteers. We use positive training techniques and do not keep our dogs in a kennel environment. Teams of dog, disabled handler, and trainer are matched up and work together to custom train each dog to suit the particular needs of each disabled handler. This training takes place over an extended period of time in order to develop the dogs to their full potential and to teach disabled handlers how to make the most of their assistance dogs. This method leads to a strong bond among the team members--especially between the dog and its handler.
