The Victim/Witness Division is a section of the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office. Established in 1974, this Division is designed to advocate for individuals who have been a victim or a witness of violent crime. Our volunteer advocates go on hospital call outs to local area emergency rooms to provide support and information to victims of sexual violence. In addition, our volunteer advocates answer our 24-hour crisis hotline to provide information and support to individuals seeking assistance from our division. The Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office Victim/Witness Division provides 24-hour crisis-intervention, support, and informational services to those affected by violent crime. The advocates specialize in cases of sexual assault/abuse and homicide; however, they offer a variety of services to other victims and witnesses as well. The goal of the division is to help victims and witnesses understand their rights and responsibilities so that they can make intelligent choices about what is best for them.
The victim advocates are dedicated to providing emotional support, advocacy, and assistance following the tragic death of a loved one. Reconstruction of a meaningful and functional life can be facilitated by such intervention.
