Description

The Ohio Valley Emergency Response Team (O.V.E.R.T.) is a team of dedicated professionals across Ohio and surrounding states. Our organization is an incorporated nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code who can provide assistance to agencies, communities, and individuals during times of crisis caused by disasters and other lost person incidents. O.V.E.R.T. is unique in that we can provide an agency, community, etc. with dedicated professionals from different medical, rescue, professional, etc. disciplines. Our organization consists of sheriff's deputies, doctors, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, police officers, drowning homicide investigators, paramedics, dispatchers, etc. We continually train not only with members of our own organization, but other organizations throughout the Midwest. In the event of an incident, a wilderness search and rescue team may be called in from one county and a canine unit from another county. These two teams may not be familiar with each otherâ s protocol and procedures and therefore the mission becomes ineffective because the two different teams do not work well together. OVERT provides a â one stop shopâ where all land, water, and canine teams follow the same standard protocol and are able to efficiently aid law enforcement and other public service departments as well as companies and individuals during an emergency. Additionally, we promote safety and prevention within our community by providing professional training to our volunteers and educating the community through our numerous education programs, community service projects, and youth program. This can only be accomplished with the dedication of our members and the support and cooperation of the communities and agencies that we serve.
