Mission Statement

The American Blind Skiing Foundation (ABSF) was founded in 1971 as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. It provides ski programs for anyone who is blind or visually impaired. This makes it possible for both adults and children to experience the thrill of downhill skiing in a safe and friendly environment. Involvement in ABSF's skiing activities not only makes our members better skiers but also enable them to successfully face challenges in all areas of their lives.

ABSF is committed to serving visually impaired children & adults, giving them the opportunities and experiences that build confidence & independence that can last a lifetime.

This ski season why not check out our schedule of events, and come out to join in the fun and excitement.

Some may say...how in the world are blind people able to ski....and why would they want to?

Good question?

Here is the answer.

Alpine or downhill skiing is open to all levels of visually impaired children and adults through the American Blind Skiing Foundation . No minimum age. If they can get into skis we'll work with them.

During the ski season, we take day trips plus two weekend trips to local ski resorts in Wisconsin. In addition, we sponsor a major trip to one of the resorts in the Rocky Mountains where our skiers have the opportunity to challenge themselves and increase their skiing abilities.
