• Promote appreciation and protection of the natural environment through wilderness adventures and environmental education • Create opportunities for personal growth and development by linking participants from different cultures, fostering respect of self and others, and providing participants with outdoor skills training and leadership opportunities

Description

Inner City Outings (ICO) is a community outreach program of the Sierra Club dedicated to providing positive experiences in the wilderness to underserved youth. The goal is to open the minds of youth, helping them to appreciate the wilderness and develop a desire to protect it. Through ICO, volunteers provide outdoor experiences to people who would not otherwise have the opportunity. The San Diego Chapter formed in 2001. We are a part of the National ICO Sierra Club network and one of the many committees of the local San Diego Sierra Club.
