St. Matthew's House

Description

St. Matthew’s House began in 1987 when a group followed a calling to bring food to a homeless population living in a nearby wooded area. The "Task Force for the Homeless" began gathering contributions of both food and clothing. Throughout the years, community support has helped grow the small mission into a multi-faceted organization focused on spiritual change. Our programs assist those experiencing hunger, homelessness, and addiction. We also offer empowerment opportunities such as workforce development and life skills classes. As a 501(c)(3), our unique social enterprise business model helps cover the administrative expenses for the organization, so donations go toward our program expenses. Our businesses include retail (thrift stores and e-commerce), a restaurant (at LuLu's Kitchen), a catering company (Delicious by Design), and a hotel (Port LaBelle Inn & Conference Center).
We offer various volunteer opportunities through our programs (such as at our Food Warehouse and Community Pantry) and businesses (such as in our thrift stores) as well as through events, including our recovery program graduation ceremonies (three times a year), annual gala (in November), Naples Automotive Experience (in February), and annual golf tournament (in the Spring).
