Mission Statement

Established in 1965, PBO is the only not-for-profit agency in the state dedicated exclusively to preserving the sight of Oklahoma's children and preventing blindness.

Serving all 77 counties in Oklahoma, PBO provides free vision screenings for children at preschools, day cares, Head Starts and public and private schools. PBO's intervention does not stop there; follow-ups are made, and if financial assistance is needed for these children, we provide the resources necessary for free eye exams and precription glasses by an eye care professional.

In addition to the Children's Vision Screening Program, PBO provides an invaluable service to our state through advocacy, community education and awareness on eye health and safety; and certification training services.

This upcoming school year alone, we will serve over 300,000 children.

Description

PBO is supported soley by the general public, corporations, and foundations. We do not receive federal, state, or United Way funding. Only 9.1 percent of PBO's budget is spent on fundraising and administrative costs.

All money donated stays in Oklahoma for Oklahoma's children.
