Mission Statement

Our Vision: YouthSpace is a youth-led organization dedicated to providing positive outlets for youth. Our Mission is to carry out our vision through the expression, development and support of youth-led initiatives aimed at cross-cultural understanding, empowerment through education, and social and economic justice.

Description

is a citywide youth-run center, providing entertainment, employment, business opportunities, leadership development and event space to high-school aged young people in San Francisco through program development, planning and piloting a business venture (café), youth leadership development and collaboration with adults and various youth organization in San Francisco. Approximately 15 young people, the YouthSpace Board of Directors, will participate during the planning and building period; several hundred youth will utilize the center annually once it opens. St. John's Educational Thresholds Center (SJETC), a non-sectarian non-profit founded in 1972, has agreed to serve as fiscal agent for YouthSpace. SJETC's mission is to recognize the gifts and talents of young people and work in partnership with them, their families, and the community-at-large, to make the SOMA, Mission, Bayview, Visitacion Valley, Western Addition neighborhoods and others better places in which to live and grow.
