Mission Statement
To break the cycle of intergenerational illiteracy and undereducation in the Cedar Riverside Neighborhood of Minneapolis by providing an integrated education program for families with young children.
Description
Cedar Riverside Family School is an Even Start Family Literacy program that aims to enhance a family's educational status by offering a family centered holistic program. Our Program is located in the Cedar Riverside Neighborhood of Minneapolis. Between our unique collaboration with different community organizations we are able to offer classes Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are four components to the Cedar Riverside Family School. 1. Adult Education Which includes English Language Learning, G.E.D. preparation, computer classes, nutrition, and work readiness. 2. Early Childhood Education For Children aged six weeks to seven years old. 3. Parent Education Which provides support and education for parents to prepare and advocate for their children in school, as well as support for facing the challenges of raising children in the United States. 4. Parent and Child Learning Together Time Which provides parents an opportunity to support their child's literacy development as well as their own.
