Mission Statement

The University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Manatee County Extension Service is a federal, state, and county partnership dedicated to developing knowledge in agriculture, human and natural resources, and the life sciences and to making that knowledge accessible to sustain and enhance the quality of human life.

Description

The Manatee County Extension Service is an educational program within county government which brings the resources of the University of Florida to Manatee County to:

  • solve local problems
  • provide educational opportunities
  • promote economic enhancement and development
  • Improve the quality of life for all of our citizens

The Extension Service is a partnership involving the United States Department of Agriculture, the University of Florida as Florida's land-grant university, and Manatee County government. A land-grant university has a special mission to serve every citizen in every corner of every state. What better way to do this than to have an Extension Service in virtually every county in the United States.

Extension was established nationally in 1914 and in Manatee County in 1918. Extension has a proud history of service to all of our citizens. We hope we can serve you with the very best information based on the very latest University research combined with our several years experience in the "business" of education.
