Mission Statement

Fostering Optimal Collaboration to Uphold Student Success, with the support of the community, our children will continue to prosper.

Description

Through the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative the Waterford School District has implemented two mentoring programs. Volunteers and students are matched based on preferences, personal interests, and overall compatibility.

COMMUNITY BASED
MENTORING PROGRAM:
The youth and mentor will meet at least 2 hours/week for a minimum of one year. All youth attend a secondary school within the WSD. This is a community program and activities will take place outside of school.

SITE BASED MENTORING
PROGRAM:
The student and mentor will meet at Kingsley Montgomery School at least 1 hour/week for a minimum of one year. Structured group activities will be provided every other week during the summer and once per month during the school year.

Would you recommend Waterford Mentoring Program?

by Amanda C. from Royal Oak, MI (January 7, 2013)
My husband and I have been matched with our mentees for over 6 months now and absolutely love this program! The coordinators are amazing and always there for us. If you are looking to donate your time to a wonderful organization please consider this program! The gratification and warmth one receives from touching a child's life does not compare to anything else. The program provides you with the tools needed in order to deal with any situation or dilemma your match may encounter. This program is excellent for all ages!
Engage your employees, consumers, or students! VolunteerMatch provides the tools that make community involvement easy.
