Description
Through the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative the Waterford School District has implemented two mentoring programs. Volunteers and students are matched based on preferences, personal interests, and overall compatibility.
COMMUNITY BASED
MENTORING PROGRAM: The youth and mentor will meet at least 2 hours/week for a minimum of one year. All youth attend a secondary school within the WSD. This is a community program and activities will take place outside of school.
SITE BASED MENTORING
PROGRAM: The student and mentor will meet at Kingsley Montgomery School at least 1 hour/week for a minimum of one year. Structured group activities will be provided every other week during the summer and once per month during the school year.
