Mission Statement

Summit County Youth (SCY) strives to have a positive impact on the mental and emotional health of students and takes its role seriously in providing better outcomes for the youth and families of our community. SCY also seeks to encourage people in our local community to fulfill their role in helping youth to develop in the strongest, most resilient way. SCY embraces the idea that young people are "hard-wired" for enduring connections to others and for moral and spiritual meaning. We believe the more we can offer and give to our community, the more we will make a difference.

Description

SCY has been in existence for over three decades now allowing students the opportunity to explore moral and spiritual matters while also helping them discover the significance of friends, family and community. SCY provides a place for students to belong and connect relationally on a weekly basis. SCY also organizes and facilitates weekly breakfasts and monthly creative activities and events. All of our energies are put into cultivating mentoring relationships as well as positive peer connections. In the end, SCY teaches and models for students how to be people of compassion and responsibility in our families and communities. The relationships formed and nurtured through SCY, as well as the valuable life lessons learned, provide a foundation for students as they mature into caring and contributing individuals in our world.
