Description

Founded in 1929 by Sen. James Couzens. Sen. Couzens saw and adressed the plight of children who were neglected, abused or in dysfunctional families. He founded The Children's Center which was one of the first child guidance clinics in the country. Today The Children's Center offers Michigan's largest array of child and family services programs. We have received national recognition for innovation and effectiveness in meeting the special needs of at-risk children. Today, the families we service often suffer form a varitey of problems, including the frustrations of poverty, ... alcohol and drug abuse.. incarcerated parents.. incest and sexual abuse.. and many of them witness violence and death. The Children's Center is accredited by the Council on Accredidation and currently provides services in over 20 programs.
