Mission Statement
The goal of the Parent Mentor Program is to improve and enhance the lives of children by helping their parents make the transition from residential treatment centers or other life-changing social service programs to independent living by offering opportunities and encouragement to learn about leading and raising healthy families. The clients have made a commitment to overcome addiction, domestic violence, provery, and other serious, interrelated barriers that have prevented them from having a stable family life. The program assigns volunteer mentors to develop friendly, educationally based relationships with these parents, teaching them effective parenting skills.
Description
Mentors work with mothers who are current or former clients of residential treatment facilities for drug and alcohol treatment.
