Mission Statement

The Alliance for Southern African Progress exists to promote activities that:

a) Conduct research into the state of humanitarian affairs in Southern Africa;

b) Disseminate information to raise the awareness of the general public locally and internationally, regarding Southern African human rights abuses;

c) Facilitate workshops and conferences that bring together professional educators in the Southern African region with the staff of non-governmental organizations in the region;

d) Assemble and manage a task force of Southern African concerned citizens;

e) Organize forums for discussion of human rights abuses in Southern Africa;

f) Plan and implement projects that promote growth and empowerment of the Southern African people;

g) Remain apolitical in all operations, focusing attention on issues in Southern Africa rather than government officials or political parties in Southern Africa;

h) Conduct all lawful activities that may be useful in accomplishing the foregoing purposes.

Description

We encourage you to contact us regarding the work of our organisation "ASAP", due to the urgent need for assistance in the Southern African region to help eradicate the following issues:

- Starvation in Zimbabwe of 6.0 million people
- Starvation in Zambia of 2.4 million people
- Starvation in Malawi of 3.2 million people
- Starvation in Mozambique and Lesotho of 1.0 million people

Famines are caused by shortages in domestic food supply as well as inefficient management of resources by the public sector and non-governmental organizations. The Alliance for Southern African Progress, Inc. exists to do its part in capacity building and famine relief in the southern African region by working with other NGOs in the sustainable development field to raise awareness of the situation, and by drawing attention to those accountable for the current famine.

While no one organization can stop such horrific famines or mismanagement by governments, the Alliance for Southern African Progress, Inc. aims to do its part throught the help of volunteers who care. Please contact us today.
