Description

The word respite means a brief interval of rest of relief. WeCare Respite, a program of Southwest Christian Care affords families of children with special needs time to rest and recharge their batteries by providing care for their children using loving volunteers. The second Saturday of every month, Southwest Christian Care offers respite to families of children with special needs. Under the leadership of trained staff, volunteers are paired with a child assisting them in activities and social interaction. Volunteers are paired with a child in the program, and under the leadership of staff, they help the child participate in activities and social interaction. It is important for volunteers to arrive on time and stay for the duration of the session due to being paired with a child. If you need to cancel on the day of the assigned session please call 770 969 8354 and ask for Tonya Logan. We are in need of volunteers that can commit to a minimum of 4 hours every second Saturday of the month, either from 10:45 am - 3pm or 2:45pm - 7pm.However, if you are feeling really adventurous you may sign up for both volunteer sessions totaling 8 hours. As volunteers will be working with children; a background check will be required. Please call 770 969 8354 and ask for Shelley Mann at ext. 298 for more information regarding background checks and volunteer opportunities.
