Description
The Coalition for Debtor Education (CDE) is an 18-year-old non-profit that conducts financial educaiton classes to young adults, working age adults and seniors throughout the five borouughs. The Coalition relies on volunteers to deliver classes.
Our focus is on vulnerable populations including youth, seniors and low income adults. We teach practical financial information using methods that apply the psychology of money and techniques that improve adult learning and retention. Our staff trains volunteers to present classes all over the city.
The classes focus on relevant personal financial topics including setting goals, budgeting and saving, banking, managing credit and debt and student debt. For senior citizens, we hold classes about how to avois scams and protect their identity.
Our office is generously provided by Fordham Law School at its Lincoln Center campus.
