Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Through the compelling history, math, and science of surveying, the National Museum of Surveying is dedicated to preserving the illustrious past of surveying while ensuring its future. With vivid images, superb storytelling, and dynamic multimedia, the museum creates a truly personalized and customizable tour for each patron in order to show the world as her or she has never seen it before.
The museum is a not for profit museum housing the national legacy of surveying. The museum is dedicated to educating the public about surveying and STEM.
The museum starts every patron in the NCEES Educational Theater room to introduce the wide expanse of surveying and the mere variance of centimeters in the practice. The patrons then are introduced to the History of Surveying Gallery through a guided tour. The history gallery is capped off with a 55-foot mural depicting surveying from Egypt to Lincoln. The patrons then tour the Surveying the Civil War Exhibit where the patrons learn the role that surveying played in the unifying of the North and the South and the East and the West. Finally, the patrons visit NOAA's Science on a Sphere where the patrons will see the world, as they never have before through the power of a nearly six foot spherical movie. The Sphere is a guided tour through the social and natural power of the Earth while at the same time fitting Earth into a wider picture of the universe. The focus at the museum is on how satellites have changed our perception of our place in the cosmos.
