Mission Statement

Breakthrough San Francisco at SF Day School fosters educational equity through an innovative, two-pronged approach. We provide intensive academic enrichment and ongoing support to motivated San Francisco students with limited educational opportunities, ensuring they are academically successful and on the path to college. Simultaneously, we train outstanding high school and college students from across the country for work as tomorrow's teachers and urban educational leaders.

Description

Breakthrough San Francisco is a member of Breakthrough Collaborative, a national education nonprofit that launches motivated middle school students with limited educational opportunities on the road to college and encourages young people to pursue careers in education. During the school year, we provide after-school tutoring and enrichment classes for our students. In addition, we provide middle and high school guidance and support for our 5th and 8th graders. During the summer, we hire talented college students to teach our students during our six-week academic-intensive program. Students also have the option of participating in after-school tutoring during the summer.
