Description

The Owyhee Watershed Council is a tri-state organization (Idaho, Oregon, Nevada). It consists of local farmers, ranchers, recreationists, scientists, and other concerned citizens appointed by both the Malheur and Owyhee County Board of Commissioners. The Council is working to accomplish the following goals: 1) Basin-wide collaboration in educating and communicating accurate and factual watershed information; 2) A watershed that captures, stores, and releases good quality water; 3) Funding and support for projects that address watershed needs; 4) Protection of public and private rights; 5) A sound economy based on the local culture, customs, and values of Owyhee Watershed communities; and 6) Positive public participation and involvement in local watershed issues.
