"The Brooklyn Rail" is a regularly published independent journal committed to reporting local affairs and to providing a forum for discussion of the arts. It is our intention to help solidify North Brooklyn's reputation as a vibrant center for artistic creation. We would like to help integrate the arts into the daily life of the communmity. By placing in-depth articles about local issues like neighborhood gentrification alongside profiles and critical reviews of local artists, we hope to strengthen the ties between the new, monstly young mingrants to the area and the area's more established ethnic communities.
