Mission Statement

The objective of Safe Haven Animal Rescue of Florida, Inc. is to:

  • take into our care stray, abused, neglected or surrendered dogs who might otherwise be put to death due to overcrowding of county facilities or lack of medical attention;
  • provide or locate temporary sanctuary and permanent homes for animals in our care;
  • evaluate and render necessary care, training and medical services to those animals who are taken into our care;
  • bring awareness, education and assistance to the community to help stop animal abuse and to promote responsible pet ownership.

Description

Safe Haven is an all foster animal rescue mainly focused on canine rescue. We maintain no facility so our organization is our dedicated volunteers and fosters. A working Board of Directors oversees animal and business operations. We obtain our animals from various sources, such as owner surrender, cruelty siezures, other rescues and county facilities. All animals are spayed/neutered and receive all age approprate vaccines and medical care as well as any necessary behavior assessment before adoption. We showcase our animals on various Web based adoption sites, our own Web site and Facebook. We participate in organized animal rescue events throughout Manatee county and surrounding areas and we bring animals to specific sites on weekends for mini-adoption events. We assist pet owners in obtaining low cost vaccines, spay/neuter services and provide information for pet related services available in the community.
