The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County is to connect youth to their community through mentors who inspire and motivate youth and families toward personal growth, healthy relationships, and meaningful opportunities.
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Lane County is a non-profit mentoring agency serving youth-in-need in the Eugene/Springfield community. We serve youth (ages 6 to 17) through our partnerships with Eugene/Springfield elementary schools, middle schools, social services agencies and the juvenile court system.
This mentoring agency (formerly known as Committed Partners for Youth - CPY) was founded in 1991 by a local mother and psychologist, Dr. Llew Albrecht, who after struggling for many years with the challenges facing her own son and daughter decided to offer most needed services in the community for youth like hers. She knew in her heart that a mentor could have made a huge difference in their lives. With the help of others, she made it her mission to create this unique local program in order to help other children in need. A couple of years ago, CPY and Big Brothers Big Sisters joined forces in order to serve more youth in Lane County. Today, we are affiliated to BBBS national and operate under the name: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lane County.
BBBS of Lane County is committed to building trusting relationships and safe environments for youth and families by honoring and respecting human diversity through working cooperatively in the community to create awareness, understanding, and inclusiveness.
