Education for Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC)

Mission Statement

EPIC is dedicated to improving humanitarian conditions in Iraq and defending the human rights of the Iraqi people. Only with economic revival, the rehabilitation of civilian infrastructure and the strengthening of civil society can there be sustained improvement in the humanitarian situation. Until this occurs, EPIC will continue to challenge the U.S., the UN Security Council and the Government of Iraq to respect international law and fulfill their respective obligations to safeguard the civilian population. To help end human rights violations and other abuses by U.S. occupying forces and Iraq's government, EPIC supports the demilitarization of Iraqi society, strengthening the rule of law, and the investigation and prosecution of human rights abusers. EPIC supports the development of a vibrant civil society as a prerequisite for good governance and sustained democratization.
