Mission Statement
The Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) is a non-profit research institution with offices in Washington, DC and at Stanford University, whose mission is to design, monitor, evaluate, and improve sustainable tourism practices and principles. Its policy-oriented research focuses on tourism as a tool for poverty alleviation and biodiversity conservation, as well as socially and environmentally responsible tourism practices
Description
The Center for Responsible Travel (CREST) recognizes the need to improve the social and environmental impacts of all aspects of tourism, from small-scale ecotravel, to large-scale resort tourism. CREST's goal is to transform the travel industry as a whole into a driver of positive change for tourism destinations, travelers, and the global economy. CREST views responsible tourism as a development and conservation tool that has the potential to address some of the most complex and compelling social and natural scientific issues of our times.
Travelers ' Philanthropy is a project of the Center for Responsible Travel (CREST).
We strive for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within the travel industry internationally, encouraging individual businesses and their travelers to support social service and conservation projects in the communities where the travel experiences take place. This is an increasingly important source of development assistance for communities located near tourism destinations. Travelers' Philanthropy is a leader in addressing this important global movement
