On behalf of the Birth & Beyond Collaborative, the Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Center is currently listing available National Service opportunities as AmeriCorps Home Visitors and Family Resource Aides to serve during the 2024/2025 Program Year. Birth & Beyond (B&B) is a nine-site family resource center (FRC)collaborative serving specific communities within Sacramento County. While the CAP Center monitors each AmeriCorps member contract, AmeriCorps members are hired and supervised by one of the nine FRC's which interviews and offers the available positions at their sites. The program year starts 9/1/2024 and ends 8/31/25. Depending on FRC operating hours, AmeriCorps members are scheduled to serve Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm (additional evening and weekend hours available at some B&B sites). AmeriCorps Home Visitors (HV) provide parenting support and education to families in their homes A typical caseload is 10 families with pregnant women or children 0-18 years of age. Visits are structured and based on utilizing an evidence based parenting curriculum which promotes positive parenting, enhances child health and development, and prevents child abuse. In addition, members will be required to manage and maintain client files, receive weekly supervision from their supervisor, present clients to a multi-disciplinary team, participate in community events, and attend all required trainings. AmeriCorps Family Resource Educator (FRE) facilitate parenting education workshops, conduct outreach, provide parent support through case management services, assist in the coordination of community events. These workshops are a series of 13 week sessions utilizing the Making Parenting A Pleasure curriculum. Members will attend all required trainings and receive weekly supervision with their supervisor. Through this opportunity listing, AmeriCorps candidates information will be shared with the nine B&B service sites. Once your information is shared with the B&B sites, the service site Program Manager and site supervisors will review applicants qualifications and reach out to schedule and interview if they see fit. You may have an opportunity to be interviewed by one; or, up to all nine sites based on each sites position availability.
