Description

NDI reaches children of all ethnic and economic boundaries in schools across New York City and Jersey City, as well as nationally through residency and affiliated programs. NDI's teaching philosophy reflects the following beliefs:  Dance should be accessible to all children, regardless of socio-economic background and physical abilities or challenges.  The arts should be an integral part of every child's education. NDI programs are conducted during the school day on school premises and incorporate multiple disciplines, both artistic and academic.  The arts provide children with another perspective for learning. NDI programs spark children's interest by requiring their active participation and providing a focus for their energy.  A performance goal inspires discipline, hard work, and perseverance. NDI programs culminate in performances and assemblies, which provide public affirmation of each child's personal accomplishment.  Excellence in teaching inspires excellence in student work. NDI teachers are professional dancers, choreographers, musicians, and visual artists who constantly challenge students to strive for excellence.
