Mission Statement

The Warriors Program for Student-Athletes is an innovative youth development initiative supported by the Children's Aid Society of New York City. The Warriors is a year-round program which integrates academic, athletic, and leadership development for more than 700 youth from Washington Heights, Harlem, and the Bronx. The Warriors is committed to developing and supporting New York City student-athletes. Through a highly organized and demanding eight-year curriculum of academic, athletic, and leadership development, we prepare youth for success in high school, college, and life.

Description

The Warriors is a year round after-school and weekend program currently serving more than 700 children and teens from the Bronx and Manhattan. In these neighborhoods, poverty, crime and unemployment define the way of life. However, on a typical day in our program, kids may be involved in a number of the following activities: Saturday Skills - Literacy development combined with organized basketball clinics and leagues Traveling Teams - Practice, competition, travel Academic Support - Study skills, homework help, tutoring High School Assist - SSAT prep, high school guidance, visits Growing TALL Summer Academy - Six-week day camp integrating Technology, Athletics, Leadership& Literacy College Bound - SAT prep, college guidance, visits Career Prep - Summer job and internship placements Multimedia & Communications Team - Technology, reporting, newsletter production Summ"{pz à à ncentives - Scholarships to overnight summer basketball camps for high-achieving student-athletes Summer Development Camps - Day camps for basketball skill and leadership development.
