Mission Statement

Tortugueros Las Playitas mission is to Protect and Conserve the Environment with an emphasis on Sea Turtle protection, population recovery, and Environmental Education in Todos Santos, Mexico.

Description

Tortugueros Las Playitas increases populations of Endangered Sea Turtles with their nest relocation program. Using a Sea Turtle incubation greenhouse to elevate sand temperatures to optimal levels for incubation the project has produced healthy Leatherback, Green, and Olive Ridley hatchlings. The group also provides Environmental Education to local children, clears beaches and riverbeds of harmful plastics and other garbage, and coordinates a recycling program.
