Mission Statement
To preserve the environment and protect human health through the development of a sustainable future and to mitigate the effects of past environmental offenses. Our strategies to accomplish this are: - to use science and technology to create solutions rather than problems, solutions which respect the earth and understand our partnership with it; - to enhance society's ability to protect the environment and human health; - to provide communities with methods to mitigate the effects of exposure to pollutants and environmental threats to their health and livelihood; and - to remove existing barriers that have hampered creating a livable world for all.
Description
The communities in which we live and work have been disproportionately affected by pollution in the past and present and unless things change will be so in the future. Not only are these communities the most affected by pollution, but also they have the least resources to address the issues that are affecting their families and homes. These primarily low income, minority communities have been stripped of their basic human rights and now are demanding that action be taken. We work with these communities to transform this demand into plans, actions and a realization that each and every person has the right to a clean environment and a sustainable future. We have three main programs to accomplish our goals. Technical Assistance for Community Groups CASA - Community Assist of Southern Arizona Community directed research projects
