Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Our mission is to fund and implement life-saving water systems to drive economic development and build self-sufficient communities.
Well Aware is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with headquarters in Austin, Texas that provides innovative and sustainable solutions to water scarcity and contamination in Africa. We fund and implement life-saving water systems to drive economic development and build self-sufficient communities.
At Well Aware, our responsibility to the communities in which we work goes far beyond the drilling of a hole. More than 60 percent of existing water wells in Africa currently do not work. Our water systems work and they last because of realistic and responsible planning and collaboration with local partners and community members.
Well Aware has helped over 70,000 people through the implementation of clean water wells, boreholes, rain water catchment, and pipeline projects in Kenya. We are proud of the number of people we serve, but the quality of our work and results is as important as the quantity. As such, we work with communities, not for them. Our team understands that the communities in which we work know better than anyone else what they need, and we listen.
