Mission Statement

The Meals on Wheels Program provides hot, home delivered meals to qualified elderly and disabled persons in our community. The meals are subsidized by the Houston/Harris County Area Agency on Aging with Title III funds from the Older Americans Act. Each week more than 300 homebound seniors in Southwest Houston receive a noontime meal in their home five days a week. The Meals on Wheels program serves a diverse population including ethnic and religious minorities, individuals of low income status, and those with physical and/or cognitive impairments.

Description

Dedicated Volunteers provide the necessary means to help the homebound elderly by volunteering 1-2 hours per week delivering between 8 - 20 meals one day a week. The profile of the volunteer is extremely diverse with some retired couples, stay at home moms, students, and those on their lunch break.
