Description
In April 1999, a few concerned citizens of Santa Maria and bordering cities banded together to tackle the mounting problems of homelessness, alcoholism, and drug addiction. That same year, Central Coast Rescue Mission was established to provide food, clothing, and intervention services for the less fortunate.
In June 2002, the mission opened its Residential Drug and Alcohol Recovery program for homeless men with addictions. Central Coast Rescue Mission became an outreach ministry of the Rescue Mission Alliance organization in August 2003. Today, the Central Coast Rescue Mission provides a meals outreach program to the homeless, as well as a 12-bed residential drug and alcohol recovery program for men, followed by a transitional program which prepares the men for graduation and new, productive lives.
