New Vision for Independence is committed to excellence in providing rehabilitation, community education, and support services for people with low vision or blindness, and their families, to promote independence, acceptance, and self-confidence.

Description

New Vision for Independence is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides free rehabilitation instruction to blind and visually impaired adults and babies in Lake and Sumter counties, as well as The Villages, enabling them to return to a life of independence. Rehabilitation services include instruction in Braille, independent living skills, orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and family workshops. There are over 12,900 blind or visually impaired adults in Lake and Sumter, and New Vision is the only organization providing services to this population and region.
