Magnificat

Mission Statement

In 1989, Artistic Director Warren Stewart, together with harpsichordist Susan Harvey, founded the San Francisco based ensemble Magnficat. It rapidly became the critically acclaimed ensemble of voices and instruments that it is today. Dedicated to the music of the 17th century, Magnificat projects have spanned a wide range of styles, from reconstructions of liturgies to fully staged operas. For Magnificat, Stewart has transcribed works by Cavalli, Cazzati, Marozzoli, Charpentier, Grandi, Carissim, Cozzolani, and others
