Mission Statement

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences policy through education and advocacy.

The League does not support or oppose any political party or candidate

Description

PRINCIPLES: Whatever the issue, the League believes that government policy, programs and performance must meet these criteria:

  • competent personnell with clear responsibilities,
  • coordination among agencies and levels of government,
  • adequate financing,
  • effective enforcement,
  • well-defined channels for citizen input and review.

We believe in:

  • respect for individuals
  • the value of diversity
  • the empowerment of the grassrootsm both within the League and in communities
  • the power of colelctive decision making for the common good
