Description

The Seattle Municipal Court has eight elected Judges, six appointed Magistrates, and is located at Fifth and James, in the heart of downtown Seattle. The Court handles all misdemeanors occurring within the Seattle City limits. Misdemeanors are crimes which carry a maximum sentence of a year in jail and a $5,000 fine, including offenses such as DUI's, domestic violence, theft, and trespass. In addition, Magistrates handle parking citations, traffic infractions, and non-traffic infractions.
