Site: Gary Adult High School Gary- volunteers can help sorting donations,sorting clean clothes,restocking Chrissy's Closet and preparing clothing for our other sites When you sign up to volunteer at any of our sites you will need to fill out a volunteer application through Hillsborough Public Schools because of campus securities policies. HCPS does not allow court mandated volunteers on campus and since OASIS is located on their campuses, we can't accept them either. We cannot change as it is a state mandated requirement. You will need to bring your driver's license to sign in the front office of the school. To provide clothing and fundamental necessities to low-income students in Hillsborough County Public Schools to ensure their personal and academic success.
Description
OASIS provides essentials to at-risk and low-income students in need through their school social workers Items provided include: like-new clothing, new uniforms, socks & underwear, shoes, hygiene items, alarm clocks, emergency food assistance, and school supplies 4 full-size clothing sites and 1 delivery program serving homeless and low-income students The acronym OASIS stands for Outreach Assisting Students In Schools. This non-profit organization was specifically developed as a unique and effective way of directly distributing donations of children's personal items to public school kids in need of assistance. Direct communication and cooperation with school-based social workers and other school representatives make this effort possible.
The OASIS Opportunities brings these entities together to form a unique partnership, one that allows students to overcome barriers to consistent school attendance and academic success. We believe that all students deserve equal access to the essentials they need to fully engage in their education and realize their potential to become exceptional members of our community.
