Mission Statement

To provide safe affordable housing and comprehensive social services to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, enabling them to gain self-suffiency and respect.

Families in Transition (FIT), a nonprofit organization located in Manchester and Concord, New Hampshire, was founded in 1995 in response to the growing number of homeless individuals and families in the greater Manchester area and throughout the state. Since its inception, FIT has been committed to providing only the most innovative, comprehensive, and effective interventions specifically designed to help homeless individuals and families reach beyond the cycle of homelessness to lead healthy and successful lives. Our belief is that having a home is a basic human right and is fundamental to becoming an engaged and contributing member of our community.

Would you recommend Families in Transition?

by Carly N. (October 21, 2008)
I am currently a volunteer intern at Families in Transition and have found it to be a great organization that is very dedicated to the participants they work with as well as taking care of staff members. The people I have worked with are very supportive and I have learned a lot from volunteering. Families in Transition is making a huge impact in the lives of the families they serve and I would definitely recommend volunteering here because Families in Transition is so important for families in Manchester.
