Mission Statement

The Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coalition is a grassroots, democratically-run organization, dedicated to increasing civic participation through education and collaboration to achieve enduring social, environmental and economic well-being .

Description

The Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coaliton (BRSC) operates programs in the three areas of sustainability - Economy, Environment and Social Equity.

Starting as a volunteer led organization in 2008, BRSC was awarded non-profit status in 2009. Currently, our Executive Director is the sole employee.

As a fledgling organization, we rely by necessity on volunteers to help us fulfill our mission.

Scope of Work:

We are the leading organization in the Localization movement in this region.

Binghamton Rising - a regional movement - to improve the quality of life today without compromising the quality of life of future generations. Building a Buy Local Network, executing a 10%Shift campaign to change buying behaviors, seeks to create local econoimic activity (500 new jobs).

Many Hands Food Co-operative - grassroots movement to provide access to healthy foods in all our neighorhoods

Zero Waste and Community Recycling Corps
