Mission Statement

Create an awareness of and respect for the environmental importance of the Poquessing Creek, its tributaries and Watershed; Improve the water quality and the environmental conditions of the Poquessing Creek, its tributaries and wetlands; Become an active educational voice in the community for the Poquessing Watershed; Create a passive trail for walking and wildlife appreciation through the parks and public land which border the Poquessing Creek; Promote and support the development of Benjamin Ruch State Park and Poquessing Valley (Fairmount) Park as wildlife and nature preserves; Promote an appreciation of Doctor Benjamin Rush, whose birthplace lies in our watershed, his role in the founding of our country, and his many coontributions to our society and to medical science and the development of modern psychiatric care for which he is known as the "Father of American Psychiatry"; Increase the awareness of significant historical sites within our watershed such as the Saint Katherine Drexel Shrine, Benjamin Rush birthplace, Byberry Friends Meetinghouse, and Hart Burial Grounds and promote their preservation;

The Friends of Poquessing Watershed of Philadelphia and Bucks County is an all volunteer non-profit environmental group which is dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the Poquessing Watershed.
