Mission Statement

The National Albanian American Council ("NAAC") is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advocating for Albanians and promoting peace and economic development in the Balkans by fostering democratic policy, promoting respect for human rights, and conducting educational and developmental programs.

Description

In 2001 NAAC launched the Hope Fellowship Program: a leadership development program for Kosovar women leaders. Hope Fellowships are designed to enhance the competence and confidence of women leaders at this critical time in Kosova. As Kosovars create a new government and economy, the inclusion of women in decision-making roles in government, politics, business, and civil society development requires urgent attention. It is an important moment to empower and prepare women now when their skills and insights are vitally needed. We train women leaders who work within sectors essential to developing Kosova and have demonstrated commitment and competence in their professions. Through the 12-week fellowship in Washington, DC, participants build skills to increase the influence and impact they have in their work environments and communities. The Fellowship experience intends to intensify the Fellow's self-development and professional capacity and solidify a lifetime commitment to work for the positive development of Kosova.
