Mission Statement

The mission of the Carson Valley Arts Council is to create a climate for the arts through the presentation and promotion of cultural and educational events for the Carson Valley youth and community and the greater Western Nevada/Lake Tahoe Region.

Description

The Carson Valley Arts Council (CVAC) was incorporated in the State of Nevada in September 2004 and was granted 501(c)(3) status in August, 2005. The CVAC is a group of volunteers who got together to address a specific need in our community (Carson Valley, Nevada) - a suitable venue for performing and visual arts.

After an exhaustive search, the CVAC identified the old Copeland Lumber Building and recognized
its potential to fulfill the need in the community for a midsized theater venue. The building's location as the "gateway to historic downtown Minden" identified it as a viable candidate for transformation into a multi-functional cultural arts center.

In December 2006, CVAC organized the first concert series for purposes of public awareness of the pending venue project.

CVAC has been providing a quality concert series for the past 10 years. The concert series are supported entirely by donations from local businesses and patrons of the concerts and through ticket sales.

In 2008, the CVAC acquired the Copeland Building thanks to a very generous donation. The building
was renamed the Copeland Cultural Arts Center and CVAC moved in. The front office area was remodeled
to accommodate the community and organizations with shared office space, meeting rooms, gallery space
and an Art Bar where the community can meet and gather and single artists of all disciplines will have a venue in which to perform.
