Description
The primary goal of New Connections is to provide children and adolescents ages 4 through 18 in New Haven County with a personalized program with comprehensive, child-centered, culturally-competent therapeutic mentoring services. Through participation in a variety of socialization activities that address mutually-agreed upon therapeutic goals, mentors and mentees will develop a strong, nurturing relationship based on trust and respect, which allows mentees to grow and express themselves in a constructive manner, identify their strengths, and gain a new appreciation and acceptance of others in their community.
Mentoring is a time-proven strategy that can assist in helping young people of all circumstances achieve their potential. Mentors are caring individuals who, along with parents or guardians, provide young people with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement and serve as constructive role models.
