Mission Statement

The volunteers, Board, and staff of Westcave Preserve are dedicated to sustaining this unique ecological treasure and to offering it as a scientific and educational resource to the community at large. We provide a variety of programs for children and adults, with the goal of inspiring greater environmental conservation and awareness. We seek creative solutions and strive to build a community of caring neighbors with the shared goal of ensuring that Westcave's ecological diversity and exceptional beauty remain intact for future generations. The Preserve stands as a model of cooperative natural resource stewardship, and is protected through the efforts of Westcave Preserve, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and the Lower Colorado River Authority.

Description

Westcave Preserve has offered educational opportunities to the general public since 1974. A trip to Westcave combines the opportunity to observe the plants, animals, and geology of the Edward's Plateau with a hike into a cool, sheltered, canyon to see a thrilling view of a 40-foot waterfall and lush plant life found in few other places in Texas.
