Special Olympics New Hampshire provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Description

Special Olympics New Hampshire was incorporated in 1972 and is authorized and accredited by Special Olympics International, head-quartered in Washington, DC. Special Olympics was created by the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation and is authorized by the International Olympic Committee to use the word "Olympics." Mrs. Eunice Kennedy Shriver is the founder of Special Olympics International.
