Spanish Speaking Tech Volunteers Needed! Access to technology opens up doors to endless resources and connections. Many older adults have access to smartphones and computers but do not know how to use them. Here at Vivalon, we offer one-on-one tech tutoring, and the need is so great that we are booking out weeks in advance. We are looking for additional Spanish speaking volunteers to meet this essential need. You don’t have to be an expert in offering a much-needed service to older adults in your community! If you are comfortable using smartphones and computers, join our team of volunteers to share your skills. The ripple effects of your service are endless as you support older adults in using their tech devices to access telehealth, connect with loved ones, and participate in enriching online classes. Vivalon is looking for volunteers to pack meals for the Meals on Wheels Drivers to deliver to clients. The service role is available Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays from approximately 6:00 am - 8:30 am. This role is critical in serving over 12,000 meals per month to homebound older adults or people of any age with chronic health challenges. Connection Works Wonders! Bingocize is a health promotion program that combines the game of bingo with fall prevention exercises (seated or standing) that helps older adults reduce their fear of falling by increasing activity levels, encouraging small changes to reduce fall risks at home, and teaching ways to exercise to increase strength and balance. Evidence-based programs have been proven effective by rigorous evaluation and adapted into models that organizations like Vivalon can replicate to serve their clients. Criteria for Leadership Good communication and interpersonal skills. Enthusiasm. Dependability. Willingness to lead a small group. Interest in working with older adults. Life experiences valued- with education or health care experience a plus. Ability to perform a range of motion and low-level endurance exercises. Ability to carry up to 20 lbs. Classroom Responsibilities Prepare for each class by reviewing the manual and materials. Organize the classroom with supplies and refreshments. Present the class according to the directions, training, and materials provided. Encourage interactive discussion about the concepts and skills presented. Demonstrate and coach the exercises outlined in the Program. Monitor and connect with each participant. Promote socialization and a solution-oriented environment among the participants Have fun! *Stipend may be available

Volunteer at the Vivalon Cafe opening in our new Vivalon Healthy Aging Campus! Join the fun and make new friends! The Vivalon Cafe needs reliable, friendly volunteers who are interested in serving lunch in the cafe. The Vivalon Cafe is open for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30 am to 1:45 pm. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of one weekday shift from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. There are a variety of roles available to choose from. Connection Works Wonders. Make a positive difference in someone’s day. In June, volunteers gave nearly 150 rides to older adults in need. Vivalon needs volunteer drivers to provide rides to ambulatory adults 65 and older going to medical appointments, the pharmacy, or grocery shopping. We offer shifts Monday - Friday with three-hour blocks of time to choose from. 8:00 - 11:00 am 11:00 am - 2:00 pm 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm The ride lengths are about 2-3 hours for each round trip. Therefore, we ask for a minimum of one three-hour shift per week. Requirements: A valid California Driver’s License, a clean DMV report, a reliable vehicle, and proof of auto insurance is needed.
