Mission Statement

We provide critical needs to single indigenous mothers in rural Guatemala. By providing food, shelter, medical assistance and education for their children, we allow the women in our program to prevent the cycle of poverty continuing into the next generation. The end goal is to have each woman cycle out of the program after achieving economic self-sufficiency.

Description

We are a small but dedicated board of people who have volunteered in Guatemala and are seeking methods of assisting the indigenous single mothers of Guatemala.

Each client in our program resides in severe poverty in remote Guatemala. They have restricted access to proper food, shelter, and education for their children. They are illiterate.

Finding Freedom through Friendship supplies monthly food deliveries, builds houses for each client, provides electricity and water, and educates the children within the household. In exchange for the above services, each mother must sign a contract agreeing to send her children to school.

Finding avenues for economic self-sufficiency for each client is the final challenge and end-goal.
