Girls 4 Science

Description

Girls 4 Science is Chicago's only all girls science initiative. G4S offers participants science exploration, mentorships, field trips and scholarships. G4S was created to combat stereoytpes and help girls pursure their interest in STEM fields.

In today's world it is a recognized fact that American students are less successful in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. President Barack Obama has stated that science holds the key to our survival as a planet and our security and prosperity as a nation; yet, statistics show that while 74% of men are engaged in careers in science and engineering, only 26% of women are similarly engaged in these fields.
